Objection! ... to the constantly heard term "THE LGBT agenda."
Commentators who parrot that term are doing grievous damage to members of the respective L, G, B and T communities who do NOT subscribe, and in some cases OPPOSE, the widely trumpeted "agenda."
There IS NO LGBT AGENDA, meaning, "the agenda" we hear about non-stop in the media DOES NOT SPEAK FOR ALL or even MOST L or G or B or T people, at least according to my experience over my working years (now retired.)
Any more than there is a white race agenda, or black race agenda.
Like most people, I have known a fair number of L, G, B, and T people over my lifetime. I had a job where all of the company's managers were gays, and as a result, I got to hear lots of their concerns discussed.
The gay managers were very upset that they were often regarded as promoting child molestation, or forcing gay issues into school curricula or anywhere else.
A trans person I know is very upset about the grotesque public behaviour exhibited during the so-called "pride parades," about forcing transgender issues into schools and the military, and allowing pre-surgical and non-medically-screened trans people into bathrooms that don't match their "junk."
This trans woman would never consider trying to compete in athletic events which are nominally for originally-born-females.
All of the L, G, B and T people I've known want to quietly live out peaceful lives, avoid controversy, hassle no one, and on average should be called conservatives.
A noisy element of LGBT people does NOT represent all.
So I would like to urge an END to this bogus use of "THE LGBT agenda." That phrase is going to persuade the public to assume the worst about every LGBT person they come across, and this will result in some danger to entirely innocent LGBT citizens.
Maybe say "the agenda of RADICAL LGBT persons" instead. That qualifier word RADICAL would go a long way to fixing this problem.
Please keep that in mind, show hosts.
